6 Baffling Divorce Debates

Most marriages begin strong and with optimistic leanings toward the future. But your Michigan divorce lawyer can tell you that the majority suffer long before the once happy couple finally agrees to call it quits. While there are many worthy reasons to seek a Michigan divorce, sometimes the reasons stated for ending a marriage simply baffle the mind. Below are six real, but completely crazy, reasons people have attempted to divorce their spouses.

Where’s the Unlike Button?
Social networks have their uses, but it’s highly doubtful an “easy” divorce was one of the original intentions. Emma Brady certainly didn’t think anything was amiss in her loving marriage. And she should know since she regularly asked her husband. His answer was always “nothing’s wrong, dear”. But something definitely was brewing on his Facebook page. The 35-year old IT consultant left the following status to let the world know: "Neil Brady has ended his marriage to Emma Brady." And still, the woman with the nerves of steel waited for his return to the marital home for clarification. The passive-aggressive continued insisting all was fine. He finally admitted things had been off for a while when he was later on trial for domestic abuse. His response: "I'd had enough of her.” We’re pretty sure the feeling was quite mutual.

Oh, That Had to Hurt
You've probably seen the ads for penile extensions. When a man in Russia didn’t “measure up” to his wife’s expectations, he went the extra mile and had a prosthetic device attached to keep the home fires burning. However, disaster struck during a night of especially wild love making and the device broke off, horrifying his blushing bride. He insisted he’d get a replacement, but it was too late. She filed for divorce claiming his failures in the bedroom as the primary reason.

Well, I Oughta…
During their six-year marriage, a husband in New York was such a fan of the classic Three Stooges show that he began acting out towards his wife. He actually pulled her ears, poked her in the eyes, and whacked her on the head just like the main characters. We’re not sure how long this occurred, but she told the judge that he was such a huge fan that he began thinking he was an actual Stooge. Divorce granted.

Ultimate Mama’s Boy
The old saying goes that when you marry your partner, you marry his family. But accepting your mother-in-law as an important part your life and having her tag along on the honeymoon are two completely different things. But that’s exactly what one Italian bride had in store when she and her new groom arrived at the airport Rome for their honeymoon. Plans were made ahead of time to enjoy France as man and wife, but the good old groom failed to inform the bride he had also invited mom along. When the furious bride protested, he insisted his mother had health issues and he just couldn’t chance her being alone. The three had a lovely honeymoon together, and that’s where the happily-ever-after ended. The wife filed for divorce claiming unreasonable attachment to his parent. You don’t say?

Just Let it Go
Yes, we understand your child’s fascination with Disney movies. And to be honest, we may even understand yours to a limit. They are stunning productions full of wonder. However, when they lead to marital issues, there’s a point when you just have to let it go already. A Japanese woman couldn’t, however, when she found out her new husband didn’t absolutely love Frozen. His admission led her to rethinking her decision about marrying him as she said, ““If you can’t understand what makes this movie great, there’s something wrong with you as a human being.” Something tells us a cartoon cameo version of her will be used in an upcoming Pixar production.

A Catty Marriage
A couple in Israel divorced over the wife’s overwhelming desire to be the ultimate cat lady. Shortly after saying their vows, the wife decided to bring home not one, not two, not even three adorable felines. Oh, no. She brought home 550. The husband, who was already not a huge cat fan, sought legal assistance stating he couldn’t live a normal life. The cats slept on the marital bed instead of the floor. They took over the bathroom, and ate his food directly from his plate when he sat at the table. He finally put his foot down and gave his wife an ultimatum: it’s either him or the cats. And the woman chose the cats.
